Lived Experience Network

About Us:
• Peer support development
• Mentoring & supervision
• Workforce development
The Lived Experience Network creates spaces for connection, learning, and leadership. We coordinate and host regular hui, training workshops, and Lived Experience meetings across Te Waipounamu. We also work alongside AOD services to strengthen relationships with staff and management, and partner with Te Pou to support the Consumer, Peer Support & Lived Experience Action Plan (CPSLE).
Joining Us:
The network is for people with lived experience of addiction who want to:
-
Build their own recovery capital
-
Support others on their journey
-
Have a say in how services are delivered
-
Explore opportunities to step into the peer support workforce
To take part in training or placements, you’ll need to have been substance-free for at least a year.
Once you’ve reached out, we’ll try organise with you a relaxed coffee chat with one of our kaimahi — we’ll try work around you for this. Together we’ll explore what the best next steps might look like for you. This could mean joining a peer-led group (like our weekly coffee groups), attending training or hui, or even developing a personalised mentorship plan.

The Why:
Having a strong and informed lived experience voice is vital to shaping better services and stronger communities. Our mahi provides opportunities for people in recovery to connect with each other, grow in confidence, and contribute to change in the addiction sector.
